چکیده
To begin to take steps to a mental ecology of emergence we first establish twofundamental assumptions from the methodology of transformational grammar—thecentrality of human judgment based on direct experience and the proposition that thesystematic nature of human behavior is algorithmically driven. We then set a doublecriterion for understanding any formalism such as emergence: What is formalism X, thata human may know it; and a human, that s/he may know formalism X? In the cyberneticsense, the two are defined in relation to each other. In answer to the first question, weexamine emergence as a formalism, using Turing’s work as a defining case and an NKBoolean system as a specific working model. In answer to the second question, we framethe knowing of emergence in a Batesonian epistemological approach informed bymodern developments in discrete dynamic systems. This epistemology specifies mentalprocess as the transformation of differences across a richly connected network. Therelational reference point which integrates the two sides of the cybernetic question ishuman judgment of perceptual similarity which links emergent hierarchies in a formalNK Boolean model to hierarchies of perceptual similarity based on direct experience.

In this paper we outline the nature of Neuro-linguistic Programming and explore its potential for learning and teaching. The paper draws on current research by Mathison (2003) to illustrate the role of language and internal imagery in teacherlearner interactions, and the way language influences beliefs about learning. Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) developed in the USA in the 1970's. It has...
متن کاملEvidence-based Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapy: a meta-analysis.
BACKGROUND Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Framework has enjoyed enormous popularity in the field of applied psychology. NLP has been used in business, education, law, medicine and psychotherapy to identify people's patterns and alter their responses to stimuli, so they are better able to regulate their environment and themselves. NLP looks at achieving goals, creating stable relationships, ...
متن کاملNeuro-linguistic programming treatment for anxiety: magic or myth?
The neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) treatment for anxiety, claimed to be a single-session cure for unpleasant feelings, was compared with self-control desensitization of equal duration and a waiting-list control group in treating public speaking anxiety. Fifty-five speech-anxious undergraduates underwent pretreatment and posttreatment assessments of anxiety during 4-min speeches. The results...
